PVC flooring must be softened uniformly before embossing. Short-wave absorption can vary with color, and uneven heating may disturb the product geometry.
A carbon medium-wave system spans the web and preheats the sheet immediately before the embossing nip. Cross-web zones can trim temperature uniformity.
