Medium-wave infrared emitters are used when a process benefits from a different absorption balance and a more gradual response than a low-mass short-wave lamp. They are often evaluated for coatings, moisture-rich materials, textiles, wood and other drying or heating duties.

Define the Product and Endpoint

Record material, thickness, colour, moisture or coating chemistry, initial condition, target temperature and accepted quality. Define the endpoint with a repeatable measurement rather than time alone.


Understand Medium-Wave Behaviour

The emitter’s element temperature and construction determine its output. The product absorbs part of that spectrum according to its composition and surface. Medium wave is not universally “deeper” or “more efficient”; fit is process-specific.

For drying, radiant input supplies evaporation energy while airflow removes humid air from the surface and enclosure. Poor exhaust can limit output even when more lamp power is available.
