Incoming inspection prevents an incorrect or damaged infrared lamp from reaching production. The receiving check should compare the delivered lamp with the approved drawing and purchase specification, while avoiding handling that contaminates quartz or stresses the seals.
Check the supplier, purchase order, part number, drawing revision, voltage, wattage, quantity and lot information. Photograph labels before discarding packaging. Do not mix visually similar lamps until identification is confirmed.
Record crushed cartons, wet packaging, loose parts or broken supports. Under suitable light, check quartz, seals, reflector coating, ceramic caps, leads and terminals. Quarantine lamps with cracks, chips, bent contacts or coating loss.

Resistance can help identify a wrong or open lamp, but temperature and meter accuracy affect the reading. Any insulation, withstand-voltage or powered test must follow the agreed specification and be performed by qualified personnel with suitable equipment.
Define acceptance limits before inspection. Label accepted stock, isolate nonconforming lamps and preserve evidence for supplier review. Store lamps clean, dry and supported in their packaging.
