There is no single infrared wavelength that is best for every paint. Coating chemistry, film thickness, pigment, substrate, flash-off, production speed and allowable surface temperature determine which emitter family and heat profile should be tested.

Define the Coating System

Identify primer, powder, water-based or solvent-based coating, film build, colour, cure mechanism and supplier limits. Separate solvent or water removal from chemical cure when they require different stages.


Compare Emitter Behaviour

Short wave provides rapid response and high source temperature. Carbon or fast medium-wave options can offer an intermediate response, while medium-wave designs may suit some moisture-rich or steady processes. Final fit depends on testing.


Include the Substrate

Metal, plastic, composite and wood differ in thermal mass, conductivity and temperature limits. The same coating can require a different recipe on another substrate.
