The purchase price of an infrared tube is only one part of replacement cost. A mismatched lamp can add downtime, installation work, damaged holders, uneven heating or rejected product. A useful total-cost review starts with compatibility and includes maintenance access, spare strategy and process verification.

Record the original manufacturer and part number where available, plus voltage, wattage, overall length, heated length, tube diameter, terminal style, lead length, reflector coverage and mounting orientation. Photographs help, but critical dimensions should be measured and placed on a drawing.

Check ceramic holders, spring contacts, terminal torque, cable insulation, reflectors, guards and cooling paths. Overheated or loose connections can damage a new lamp quickly. Remove contamination using the approved method and avoid touching quartz with bare hands.
