Quartz infrared heaters can support forming, preheating, welding and coating processes, but plastic response varies with resin, pigment, filler, thickness and geometry. A successful setup is based on measured product behaviour and an adjustable heater layout.

Record resin grade, colour, filler, recycled content, wall thickness, moisture condition and the required operation. Forming, welding and coating drying need different temperature profiles and heated zones.
Define which faces need heat, which areas must stay cool and how parts move through the zone. Use shielding, shaped banks or multiple sides when the geometry creates shadowing.
Start from controlled values and change one major variable at a time during trials.
| Input | Why it matters | Record |
|---|---|---|
| Material | Affects absorption and limits | Resin, colour and thickness |
| Geometry | Controls exposure uniformity | Faces, distance and masking |
| Acceptance | Confirms the usable process window | Temperature and product quality |
Short exposure can heat the surface faster than the core. Adjust spectrum, distance, time and power so the required depth is reached without gloss change, bubbling or local melting.
Measure temperature at representative positions and inspect forming quality, weld strength, dimensions, colour and cycle repeatability. Include normal starts, stops and recipe changes.
Coordinate the emitter with YFR industrial infrared heating lamps and heating modules and controls. Confirm the final configuration with product trials and documented acceptance limits.
No. Resin, pigment and additives can change absorption.
Not reliably; shadowing and distance variation often require layout changes.
Some processes require controlled heating through part thickness.
Retest after material, colour, thickness or heater-layout changes.
Send YFR your material, dimensions, target temperature, cycle time and current equipment details for an application-specific review.
